This production is highest at mealtimes and during prolonged fasting. The main role of gastric juice is the total digestion of proteins and the reduction of solid food into portions that can be assimilated by the intestine. The hormonal regulation of gastric acidity is ensured by the \"G\" cells of the stomach which produce \"gastrin\" and the nervous regulation by the \"vagus\" nerve.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">An increase in gastric acidity<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Stomach acidity increases in several cases:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Peptic ulcer disease<\/strong> caused by the bacterium \"Helicobacter pylori\", the prolonged use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs promotes the development of the ulcer.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">L<strong>gastroesophageal reflux disease<\/strong> due to part of the stomach slipping into the chest through the diaphragmatic muscle (hiatal hernia) or to a problem with the tone of the lower oesophageal sphincter (ring-shaped muscle that separates the stomach from the oesophagus) which does not close properly to prevent the upwelling of gastric secretions, resulting in burning, regurgitation and bad breath.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Stress gastritis<\/strong> in anxious or nervous people.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Fasting<\/strong> for several hours or eat acidic (citrus fruits, tomatoes), fatty or spicy foods, tea, coffee, soft drinks, etc.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Lactose intolerance<\/b> <\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Lactose intolerance can be manifested by <b>heartburn\u00a0<\/b>this syndrome, which is linked to a <b>lactase deficiency<\/b> (an enzyme that breaks down\u00a0<a href=\"\/fr\/content\/51-lactose\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lactose<\/a> in glucose and galactose), increases the production of intestinal gases which cause abdominal pain, these stomach aches will create a climate of stress; the <b>stress<\/b> can increase stomach acidity and cause heartburn. It should be noted that lactose intolerance is most often associated with abdominal pain, diarrhoea and bloating.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Taking it in the morning on an empty stomach <b>of<\/b> <b>proton pump inhibitors<\/b> such as \"omeprazole\" reduces gastric acidity and protects the stomach cells. However, if the diagnosis of lactose intolerance is made, <b>the elimination of dairy products<\/b> <b>lactose-rich<\/b> becomes the ideal treatment.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It may also be advisable to supplement with <a href=\"\/fr\/content\/111-lactase\">lactase enzyme<\/a>This makes it much easier to eat outside the home.
